Learn the recovery process of PTSD
Mental distress, physical distress, fatigue, disturbing dreams, difficulty sleeping, and feeling emotionally numb are some of the symptoms people experience when they have lived through a traumatic event such as combat, terrorist attack, child sexual or physical abuse, sexual assault, physical assault, harassment, serious accidents, or natural disasters. After the event, a person may feel scared, confused, or angry; such as in combat, a veteran could have experienced or have witnessed an event that made them fear for their life and feel helpless, perhaps even feel survivor's guilt. These strong emotions caused by the horrific event create changes in the brain that may result in PTSD.
